Studio Access

Grey Hand Press is able to offer press and studio access to printmakers in the region. Send us an email if you are interested in booking!

Please note: Access is subject to experience level and generally require prior experience in the technique you intend to practice. Private and workshop instruction available as well as basic press assistance. The studio cannot be used without one of our printers present. We will offer a full induction to the studio which will include instructions and requests for cleaning and general upkeep.

Access to the studio is dependent on our publishing and contract printing program, and may not be available year-round.

General Studio Access and Press Time rates available on request, subject to requirements.
Available hourly, half-day, full-day, and weekly where possible. Rates will include sundry consumables related to your task within reasonable use, communal tools, solvents, kitchen facilities and tea/coffee.

Stone Rental

(* By renting a stone you agree to grain off your image upon project completion, so that it is available for use by another printmaker. If you are unable to do this, we may charge an image removal fee.)

Stone Graining Service

If you would like to work on a stone, but are unable to prepare the stone yourself, we can grain the stone for you and have it ready for you to draw on! Please drop us a line so we can discuss options with you

Our Equipment

Charles Brand Lithography Press

Suitable for stone, aluminum plate, or poly plate lithography.

Maximum printing size: 640 x 880mm (aluminium plate on backer if larger stones unavailable), 750 x 1260mm (stone).

Small Etching Press

Suitable for etchings, Lino/woodcut, poly plate lithography, monotypes or wood lithographs.

Bed size: 360 x 460mm. Approx printing size: 355 x 450mm

Lithography Stones

Various sizes ranging from 460 x 290mm to 1030 x 640mm. Contact us to discuss availability and accessibility.

Rollers

Leather nap rollers: any size matrix (black only)

1 x Grabit roller: any size matrix, any color

2 x large composition rollers (47 x 39cm and 45 x 33cm), any colour

Selection of small brayers.

Graining Sink & 1 tonne hydraulic stone lift

With levigators and carborundum grit (80, 120, 180, 220 and 320).
